What is an Owner?s Auto Mart dealership?
Owner?s Auto Mart is the registered trade name of the for-sale-by-owner vehicle display and/or consignment lot concept founded by the Chairman and CEO of OAM National over ten years ago. Private sellers of motor vehicles rent display space at the Owner?s Auto Mart lot to gain visibility and traffic to increase the likelihood of a sale.

How does the concept work?
The Owner?s Auto Mart operating model is simple:
  • Sellers of privately owned vehicles pay rent to display their vehicles on our lot
  • OAM advertises its inventory on the web and in local newspapers
  • Buyers browse the lot in search of a privately owned used car
  • Buyers and sellers meet at the lot to do inspections and test drives
  • Park & Sell transactions are handled privately between the buyer and seller
  • Consignment transactions are administered by the OAM dealer
What?s the difference between the Park & Sell and Consignment business models?
On a Park & Sell Owner?s Auto Mart lot, the operator simply rents space to private sellers of motor vehicles. The Park & Sell lot, depending upon state law, may provide some additional services; such as, facilitating test drives, washing or detailing vehicles. The Consignment lot, in addition to renting space, actually transacts the sale for the owner of the vehicle on a commission basis. Some Consignment lots also offer financing and extended warranty contracts similar to the traditional auto dealership.

Do I have to have a Dealer License to operate an Owner?s Auto Mart?
That depends upon the laws of the state in which you operate. Many states do not require a dealer license to operate the Owner?s Auto Mart Park & Sell model; however, it is required to operate the Consignment model.

What are some of the unique features of an Owner?s Auto Mart lot?
In addition to operating strategies that meet individual state law requirements, OAM National has created a brand that is identifiable in a number of ways, including:
  • Recognizable signage, literature, mailers and materials, displaying the colorful Owner?s Auto Mart logo;
  • Proprietary Lot Manager software developed by OAM National over a period of ten years in the business;
  • A web site template that is customized to the individual location, provides pictures and information about the lot?s inventory of vehicles, and links to OAM National?s ?auto mall?, automatically providing thousands more in number of visits to the site; and
  • The ?24-Hour Salesman? vehicle selling system, patented by OAM National?s founder.
What is the ?24-Hour Salesman??
The ?24-Hour Salesman? is a patented weatherproof, vinyl dispenser that affixes to the vehicle window and dispenses informational ?sell sheets? to prospective buyers. This vehicle selling system enables buyers who are browsing the lot to obtain pertinent information about a particular vehicle twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Do you offer exclusive territories when you license the Owner?s Auto Mart name?
Yes. The size of the territory depends upon the size of the lot you intend to open. OAM National has packages available from 25 vehicles to 500 vehicles. Exclusive rights are then granted based on a formula for lot size and market population surrounding the lot.

How does the OAM National staff assist a new dealer?
OAM National assists a new dealer with everything from choosing a site for his lot to providing all the manuals, materials and supplies necessary for its operation, including our proprietary ?Lot Manager? software and web site. In addition to our unique program and products, we offer over ten years of experience to provide you on-site consulting and telephone support.

How do you help with site location?
